Saturday April 29
Today was centered around one bird - the Colima Warbler. We were on the trail at 6:20 am to head up the mountain. Hopefully we would not have to go all the way to Boot Springs but we were prepared to do that. After only two hours of walking we heard and then saw extremely well two Colima Warblers. Lifers for everyone! After high five and a group hug we continued up into Laguna Meadows. There we did some anticlimatic birding before heading back down. We were back at our lodgings at 12:30 pm.
After a ashort rest we did some other birding but the high winds and strong sun gave us a good excuse to spend some down time recovering from this morning's hike.
Tonight we will be back out to do some birding at dusk.
