Each day of birding is an adventure and today certainly was. We had initial success in the Ontario area (Iceland Gull, Glaucous Gulls, etc) but then we hit a birding wall in the middle of the day. With the exception of a staked out Townsend's Solitaire, we just could not find good birds. We kept checking feeders, river access points and other places where birds should be.
But then at our last feeder stop we had a flock of Common Redpolls and two Hoary Redpolls. Wow!. And then leaving the area we stopped for a flock of Snow Buntings. They were nice but not special. But, as we looked around, a flock of about 100 Bohemian Waxwings landed in the trees right by us. Wow! What a way to end the day!
Spending the night in Renfrew, west of Ottawa.
