Over
the years we have been lucky with weather on our winter birding
trips. But today our luck caught up with us. As the weatherman
predicted, it was a stormy, wet day. There were a couple of breaks
in the rain that allowed us to scope gulls and get out of the
car but on the whole the weather dictated our day. Most of the
dependable feeders in the area were devoid of birds which made
for a small day list.
But we did
enjoy the spectacle of thousands and thousands of gulls flying
near the Queenstown docks. Out of all those gulls Karl picked
out a beautiful Glaucous Gull.
Hopefully
tomorrow the weather will be nicer but the forecast does not lead
us to believe that will happen.
