Boarding the train to Churchill

This was our only real birding day in Thompson. We were out of the motel by 7 am and we headed to Paint Lake Provincial Park. There we walked the campground and picnic area. We found several groups of warblers which contained species that we usually see in migration only. Bay-breasted, Tennessee, Cape May, etc. The birds were very active and singing. We had lunch at the Paint Lake Resort. After lunch we made a quick run to Pisew Heratige Park. The birding was very slow there but there were some good butterfies.

We returned to our motel where we had arranged to keep one room for changing and getting ready for the train ride. At 5:00 pm we headed for the train station. The train was running late and we did not board until after 6 pm. By 6:45 we we underway. Our dinner in the dining car was very nice. The accomidations are small but acceptable. Everyone was safely tucked in by 10:30 pm.
