Update #1

Thursday
Travel from Phliadelphia to Winnipeg was with little problems. After picking up the rental van we birded Oak Hammock Marsh. There were more Black Terns than any of us have ever seen. Made it to the motel in Portage la Prairie about 6:30 pm. It was a long day.

Friday.
We spent the day exploring the marshes around the south end of Lake Manitoba. This is our only day in this habitat. Beautiful day with a late day thunderstorm. Lots of empid flycatchers. The evening was our first shot at the Yellow Rail. We hear one calling but were unable to get to it because of water depth. We will give it another shot tomorrow night.
